If you are really wanting some Beef and Broccoli, sure you can call the local chinese food restaurant, place your standard order, drive to the place, wait in a sad line of sad customers and pick up the food. Or you can take a little step outside your comfort box and make your own. The good news is that this is not a dish take takes 2 hours and required strange ingredients from the internation food palace. Steak and broccoli with a sauce and you are ready to go. Want homemade eggrolls? Go somewhere else because that seem to intense for us. We just buy those prepackaged ones and cover them in sauce.

 



 

Ingredients:

For The Beef:

  • 1 1/2 pounds flank steak thinly sliced against the grain
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 1 tablespoon corn starch
  • 1 tablespoon Water
  • 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
  • 3 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 tablespoon canola oil

For The Sauce:

  • 1/4 cup soy sauce low sodium
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon oyster sauce
  • 6 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger grated
  • 1 tablespoon toasted sesame oil (be careful with this shit… it is potent)
  • 1/2 cup beef broth
  • 2 teaspoon cornstarch

 

Directions:

  1. Slice the flank steak thinly (or however you like that shit)
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the 1 tablespoon of oyster sauce, 1 tablespoon corn starch, 1 tablespoon water and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda. Add the sliced meat and toss to fully coat, set aside.
  3. Whisk together the ingredients for the sauce, set aside. Be careful on the sesame oil because it can be overwhelming)
  4. Heat a large skillet over medium high heat. Add 1 tablespoon oil. When oil is hot, add the flank steak.
  5. Cook until beef is browned, about two minutes per side, maybe longer. Use those things called eyes.
  6. Add broccoli and sauce to pan, stir to coat everything, and cover.
  7. Allow to cook until broccoli is bright green crisp-tender, about 3 minutes.
  8. Remove from heat, stir again to coat in sauce and serve.
