“I’m always thinking about pleasant ways to present contrast: hot/cold, crunchy/soft, sweet/sour/salty/savory,” Schroeder tells Business Insider of his inspiration for the dessert. “This particular sandwich was a riff on some personal favorite combinations: apple and cheddar, cinnamon and sugar.”
Directions
Step 1: Trim the bread crust.
Step 2: Spread one side of each slice with Apple Butter.
Step 3: Top one slice of bread with shredded aged cheddar and place the other slice, apple butter side down, on top.
Step 4: Brush the outside with melted butter.
Step 5: Sprinkle with cinnamon/sugar mixture.
Step 6: Place on pre-heated panini grill until golden brown.
Step 7: Remove and cut in quarters and place on serving platter.
Step 8: Top each quarter with a scoop of High Road Vanilla Fleur de Sel ice cream.
Step 9: Top with remaining sandwich quarter.
Step 10: Admire your masterpiece.
